Royal Doulton was established by John Doulton and John Watts in Lambeth, South London in 1815. When taken over by John Doulton's son, Henry Doulton, it became renowned for its production of sanitary wares, industrial ceramics, art pottery, commemorative piece, tablewares and ornimental pieces. Henry Doulton was the first potter to be knighted by Queen Victoria. Some of the most outstanding teams of modellers and painters have worked for Royal Doulton. Royal Doulton have produced a wide range of tableware figurines and flambe ware. The flambe ware is so called because of its rich flame red like colour. This is often in the form of animals. Royal Doulton is still going today and still produce highly collectible items.
