Although it is not possible to tell when scissors were first invented, it seems likely that they were first used around 1500BC in ancient Egypt. These were followed by cross-bladed scissors around AD100 by the Romans.

Scissors make excellent collectible items as they come in many types and some are elaborately decorated.
