The exact date of the invention of the shoe horn is not known, however, they were certainly widely used in Victorian times due to the tight fitting shoes that were used in this era. Shoe horns are often made of wood, metal and glass. More expensive ones can be found made out of precious metals such as silver, ivory or bone.
